Books Gone Global is a project to help the students of L.A. Morgan Elementary School in Galveston, Texas.
Here 95% of the students are on a free or reduced lunch. Most of the students have never traveled, let alone left Galveston Island. From the library, we are trying to bring the world to our students through this project.
We want to show them how universal bookmarks can be through where they come from and to show them how far literacy can take anybody. They are put on display on a bulletin board showing not only the United States but the whole world.
If you would like to help out our project, all we ask is that you send us your bookmarks. Specifically, ones that represent either a place that you live or a place you have traveled. Help bring a little bit of the world to our students.
